A basic cadet at encampment is
exposed to challenges they have never faced before. These challenges prepare
the cadets to be excellent followers in the Civil Air Patrol. After the
completion of the basic encampment cadets may return and attend the Staff
Development Squadron. This program, which runs parallel to the basic encampment, provides the opportunity
for the cadets to gain experience leading their peers in the encampment
environment. The training that the cadets go through will be very rigorous
in a way the SDS Cadets have never experienced, but if they learn to
communicate effectively as a group and utilize their resources the cadets
will emerge successful from this experience, ready to be leaders in their
squadrons and Minnesota Wing.
I look forward to watching the
cadets as they go through this incredible week of personal growth.
