General Information

The Encampment mission statement is "To provide the most significant week of training and personal development in our cadets' CAP career.Everything we do at encampment is in the name of support this mission.

Other goals of the encampment program in Minnesota Wing include:

  • Standardization of the training that cadets receive throughout the Wing.
  • Instilling of the importance of teamwork in accomplishing goals.
  • Instilling a sense of discipline in the cadet corps of Minnesota Wing.
  • Development of time management skills.
  • Development of interpersonal relations skills.

Benefits of attending encampment that many cadets are not aware of:

In addition to being an opportunity for tremendous growth for the cadet, successfully completing encampment also paves the way for additional opportunities within CAP's cadet program.

  • To receive the Gen. "Billy" Mitchell Award, the cadet must receive encampment credit.
  • To participate in Minnesota's Flight Academy, a cadet must have graduated from an encampment.
  • In order to further their education by participating in the next stages of Minnesota Wing's Integrated Leadership Program (ILP), a cadet must first graduate from an encampment.
  • Most National Cadet Special Activities (NCSA) require that a cadet successfully completes a CAP encampment.
