Mission of the Minnesota Leadership Academy: The mission of the Minnesota Leadership Academy is to provide the cadets of the Minnesota Wing, educational opportunities through the three comprehensive leadership schools; the Airman Training School, Non-Commissioned Officer School and the Basic Cadet Officer Course.

The Minnesota Leadership Academy offers three schools for cadets to participate in:

The Airman Training School (ATS) is designed for cadets that are new to Civil Air Patrol.
This school will provide an introduction to the Civil Air Patrol and will feature many
training opportunities to engage new cadet airmen in the Cadet Program.

The Non-Commissioned Officer School (NCOS) is focused towards the continual training of encampment graduates as the gain experience leading and teaching small groups. The NCOS provides courses on drill and ceremonies, public speaking and human behavior modification. Throughout the weekend NCOS students will have opportunities to hone their leadership skills in a hands on environment.

The Basic Cadet Officer Course (BCOC) will be replaced this year with the Region Cadet Leadership School (RCLS). The RCLS is committed to providing continued educational opportunities to senior non-commissioned officers and junior officers. This course focuses on higher level leadership while engaging in the situational leadership model as well as providing insight into executive leadership and management.

RCLS Program Goal: To develop in cadets the Phase III leadership skills outlined in the Leadership Expectations
(ref: CAPR 52-16, chapter 2).
Eligibility: Prior to attending RCLS, cadets must have completed an encampment and hold the grade of C/MSgt or higher.
