Cadet Programs
Minnesota Leadership Academy - Arrival Instructions
Transportation to/from the MLA:
All members (students and staff) are responsible for arranging
transportation to and from the event. Carpooling is encouraged but
members need to arrange these themselves.
Arrival Instructions:
In-processing will begin on Thursday 16 October at 1500 and will end at
1700. If you cannot arrive by 1700 on Thursday, contact Maj Mari
Lucas immediately at (651) 764-0536 or at
lucascap@embarqmail.com
Opening briefings will begin promptly at 1730. You are not required to
arrive in uniform (unless you are traveling by CAP corporate vehicles),
but you must be in the appropriate duty uniform for the 1730 briefing (BCOC
in blues, NCOS in BDUs).
The
address for Camp Ripley is
15000 Highway 115, Little Falls, MN 56345-4173. Below is
a map of the area. From Little Falls, travel North on Hwy 371 and take
the MN-115/CR-47 exit and go West for 1.2 miles. The main gate is on
the right.

After checking in at the main gate to Camp Ripley,
proceed to building T-133 for in-processing and seminar assignment.
Personal Vehicles:
If a cadet drives their own vehicle to the MLA they will be required to
surrender their keys during in-processing and through the duration of the
event. The keys will be held by the program officer in a secured
location. You will not be allowed to leave the post during the event.
If you need to use your vehicle for any reason you will need permission
from the MLA commander.
Emergency Contact Information:
MLA staff and students will generally not be reachable during the MLA,
however, if an emergency arises and you need to contact anyone at the
MLA call (651) 764-0536. This number will be monitored throughout the
entire event.
Graduation Ceremony:
We will conduct a graduation ceremony on Sunday October 19th from
11:00am until noon at the Camp Ripley TACC center. All are welcome
to join us. Enter Camp Ripley through the main gate and follow the
signs for the TACC center, or ask the guard for directions. After
graduation the students will need to travel back to the barracks
building for final clean-up and out-processing. We anticipate
students will be ready to leave around 12:30-12:45pm.
Barracks:
NCOS students
will be housed in a T-style barracks building (the same style buildings
that you stayed in during encampment). You will have your own bed,
footlocker and hanger/shelf space. Bathroom facilities are shared.
Males and females will have separate barracks bays and bathroom
facilities. You are expected to contribute to keeping the barracks
facilities clean and to report any problems or issues to your seminar
leader.
BCOC students will be housed in BOQ quarters. BOQ rooms are
officer’s quarters and are similar to the billeting you would occupy if
you attended an officer training course in the US Air Force. BOQs
include a private room with a bathroom that is shared with one other BOQ
room. Males and females will be separated so they do not share a
bathroom. Use of the BOQ facilities is a privilege and you are expected
to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. If males and females are
in a BOQ room together, the door must remain open in accordance with the
CAP CPPT. Any inappropriate conduct will result in your dismissal from
the MLA and we will contact your parents.
Dining services:
We will
provide MLA students and staff with three meals each full day and a
snack during the evening. All meals are prepared by the MLA food
service staff. If you have specific food needs or any food allergies,
inform the in-processing staff upon your arrival. If you require any
special food items, you must bring them with you. It is your
responsibility to ensure that you inform the MLA staff (during
in-processing) of any special dietary needs that you have and that your
needs are being met. We will provide a snack on Thursday evening,
breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on
Sunday morning. We highly recommend that you eat prior to your arrival
on Thursday afternoon as we will not be providing a dinner meal on
Thursday.
