Capt. Ronn Winkler (right), a two time recipient of the squadron
Senior Member of the Year Award, recently assumed command of Viking Squadron,
while recently promoted Maj. Al Matson (our former squadron commander, center)
has assumed command of Group 2 of MN Wing. LtCol Volding (left), the Group 3
commander, was also present for the ceremony. We wish both of these officers the
best in their new positions. |
Col. Steve Miller, Minnesota Wing commander, presents Capt. Al Matson,
then Viking Squadron commander, and Cadet Captain Josh Wadell, then
Viking cadet Squadron commander, the National Squadron of Merit Award
citation at the Minnesota Wing Conference, April 30. This award is
presented to very few squadrons nationally each year, in recognition of
an outstanding cadet program. Viking Squadron also earned this award in
2001. |
The FAA awarded Lt. Col. J. Paul Thompson, retired USAF pilot and Viking
member, its Wright Brothers Master Pilot award at the conference. |
