2007 Minnesota Wing Commander's Workshop

2007 Commanders Workshop

The 15th Commanders Workshop will be conducted on 12-14 October, 2007 at Ruttger’s Sugar Lake Lodge near Grand Rapids, MN.  The new location offers exciting changes to the weekend.

All Unit Commanders and Deputy Commanders are encouraged to attend this multiple purpose workshop.  Minnesota Wing emphasizes the importance of this workshop by providing it to Commanders at minimal cost and/or Deputy Commanders at the expense of their unit.  Please share this information with your Deputy Commander(s).

Friday, October 12th, is for Commanders and Deputy Commanders who have taken command since the last workshop or Commanders who have not completed a Unit Commanders Course.

The October 13th session is designed to enhance the attendees’ managerial/leadership skills.  The educational presentations, exercises, and opportunities to interact with other leaders in Minnesota Wing will strengthen the effectiveness and teamwork within the Wing.

There will be a variety of presenters covering the following subjects.

Attending all sessions on both days will meet the requirement of the Unit Commanders Course.

Sunday morning, October 14th, will be an All Commanders Call.

Lodging this year will be unique.  We will be utilizing studio and two bedroom town homes.  Sleeping rooms are based on double occupancy—this refers to sleeping room occupancy, not town home occupancy.  The two bedroom town homes are two levels; first level has a kitchen, and living room.  Second level has two sleeping rooms and a bathroom.  Studio town homes are connected to the two bedroom town homes.  Rooms will be assigned by group.  If you have a specific person you would like to room with, please note on your registration form.  If you desire your own sleeping room, there is a section on the registration form to pay a single room supplement.  You may still be sharing the town home.  (Note: we will not put men and women in the same townhouse.)

This is a working weekend and we do not recommend bringing family members with you.  If you choose to bring someone with you, please contact xp@mncap.org.

All registrants will receive one free round of golf.  Plan your stay around this since you will not be excused from the sessions to golf.

Prior to the workshop, you will receive information including ground transportation information and requirements for uniform of the day.  (Should you decide to fly, Grand Rapids airport is approximately 15 minutes away and we have arranged for transportation to Sugar Lake Lodge.)

Please complete the attached registration form and return it by September 24 to: CAP Commanders Workshop, 6275 Crossman Lane, Inver Grove Heights, MN 55076.  All attendees MUST be pre-registered (no walk-ins permitted).  Any questions, contact Lt Col Dan McDowell at xp@mncap.org  or Kirsty McCracken, MN Wing Administrator, mnwingadmin@comcast.net 651-291-0462.
